We have many patients ask us what it is that Dr. Steffanie does aside from chiropractic care. A functional lab practitioner uses functional labs alongside patient history and symptom review to evaluate your body’s system imbalances. Labs are a vital piece to a thorough functional health assessment. Functional medicine is an individualized, root-cause medicine approach to healthcare. Functional laboratory testing may include blood, stool, urine, or saliva sampling to provide information about a variety of systems. Some systems include metabolic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, hormonal, and immune. Lab tests help clarify a patient's condition and reveal the steps needed to re-establish health. Functional labs, specifically, help practitioners dig deeper to get a more thorough look at what is happening in the whole body. This helps patients to gain insight as to why they feel the way they do, helping them get to the root cause of their concerns.

What will my consultation look like?
These appointments are much more in-depth than typical allopathic appointments. They include a detailed initial consultation for the patient and doctor to spend time discussing your health history and determine the most appropriate comprehensive testing using specialty labs to determine how the body is performing. Lab results will tell us the story about how the body is functioning. The patient will come back to go over test results and recommendations with Dr. Kohn and together you will come up with a plan to help meet your health goals.
